Radar Bucket

12.5" diameter x 14.5" height

Great for softball & baseball...
even carnivals

  • Doppler radar technology
  • Highly visible 3" 3-digit LED display
  • Carrying handle
  • Cushioned seat
  • Portable & lightweight (just 5 lbs)
  • No setup required; Battery operated
  • Accurately measures speeds up to 150 mph

  • A pitcher's velocity is improved when you combine a coach working with slight changes in a pitcher's mechanics. Add the immediate feedback that the Radar Bucket offers and watch a pitcher begin to motivate, change and improve. The same can be said when coaching and teaching the change-up. Mechanical changes will bring the 12-15 mph difference between the fastball and the change-up that is desired by both coach and pitcher. Uses 6 AA batteries.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Radar Bucket work?
The Radar Bucket works by using Doppler Signal Processing to clock speeds. The internally located antenna, when activated, sends out a radio frequency (RF) signal at a specific frequency (10.525 GHz). The signal projects from the unit like a flashlight beam, decreasing in strength with distance. If a moving object, like a thrown ball, enters the device's transmitted signal, the frequency of the reflected signal off the ball is changed or "shifted". This frequency change, or "Doppler Shift", is proportional to the ball's speed, and the Radar Bucket's internal circuits instantly process the return signal to display speed in your choice of either MPH or kilometers per hour.

What happens if the Radar Bucket gets hit by a ball?
The Radar Bucket has been specifically designed to resist impact and protect the internal radar unit against direct hits the bucket might sustain from pitched balls. When measuring bat speed, we recommend the use of whiffle balls, as the Radar Bucket should never be used as a target.

How will my pitchers benefit from the Radar Bucket?
Pitchers at all levels of the game will benefit from the Radar Bucket.

    Fastballs
Once the pitcher is warmed up, turn on the bucket and the pitcher will get instant feedback with every pitch thrown. Your pitcher will see that good mechanics and regular speed drills will yield faster pitches.

    Change-ups and other pitches
Knowing the speed difference between your fastball and your change-up is important. For a change-up to work its best, you need a 12 to 15 mph difference from your fastball. Using the Radar Bucket shows a pitcher the effects that various grips and releases have on every pitch.

How will the Radar Bucket improve my players' batting skills?
Knowing your bat speed is very important. Good mechanics, combined with speed, are the key to hitting the ball effectively. Bat speed should be at least equal to the speed of the pitch.

Use the Radar Bucket during batting practice (soft toss or tee work using whiffle balls) to check bat speed. As a batter's mechanics improve, so will their bat speed.

Do you have any drills I can use with my Radar Bucket?
There are many different drills the Radar Bucket can be used with. Every coach has their own set of drills they regularly use, and the Radar Bucket is an effective coaching aid to show the effects of good drilling.
