Pitching Mechanics Offers understanding of the key mechanical factors involved in pitching effectively for softball players and coaches at all competitive levels. Coaches Enquist and Weiman break down the fundamental building blocks of sound softball pitching and detail how each block should be performed. Among the topics covered are: Wrist snap, release and follow-through, arm circle, legs, release and finish, the stride, and pre-pitch motion and feet positioning. Pitching Drills A series of proven drills that are designed to improve the fundamentals and techniques for softball pitchers. This DVD shows how to successfully perform drills such as: wrist-snap drills, weighted ball progressions, leg drive, walk through, distance and 6-minute speed drills. Advanced Pitches and Drills Guidelines and drills for teaching five specific pitches: the change-up, knuckle ball, rise ball, curve ball and drop ball. ABOUT THE COACHES Sue Enquist has been a player, coach, and head coach with the UCLA Bruins for 28 years. A former All-American center fielder who led UCLA to its first softball national championship in 1978, Enquist guided UCLA to its record 10th championship in 2004. Enquist has been the head coach at UCLA since 1997, and served as co-head coach from 1989-96 with her mentor Sharron Backus, whom she was as an assistant under from 1980-88. The Bruins have an amazing record of 623-94 in Enquist's 13 seasons as head coach or co-head coach, and she has compiled over 1,150 wins in her Bruin softball career as a player and coach. Enquist hit .401 in her collegiate playing career from 1975-78, a record which stood at UCLA for 24 years. Enquist became the first softball player to be inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame and her No. 6 jersey was retired in 2000, becoming just the third number in Bruin softball history to be retired, joining Lisa Fernandez and Dot Richardson. Enquist earned her degree in kinesiology from UCLA in 1980. Dee Dee Weiman is a former UCLA standout pitcher and currently an assistant coach at Cal State Fullerton after three seasons at Wisconsin. Weiman finished her collegiate playing career at UCLA with a 59-13 record, a 0.79 ERA, and 16 no-hitters. Her 359 strikeouts in 1994 still stand as a single-season school record. Weiman also holds the NCAA career record for strikeout ratio at 10.4 strikeouts per seven innings. Weiman graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a degree in sociology.
